Now, please don't go poking around in the Asylum's reactor room - radiation isn't just all about heat, light, and ionising energy. A flock of birds is technically a radiation, as is an unpleasant smell (though I'd challenge you to photograph that) by dint of aromatic particles radiating from the source. The term radiation can be applied to the migration of organisms between geographical locations, to dust from a blast, and to, well, light and heat too; so broad is the definition that you'd be hard pressed not to perceive radiation(s) everywhere in your day-to-day life.

Ooh, of course, I forgot to mention, the term can be used in reference to elements in a design or composition that appear to radiate... but then, you thought of that already, eh?

I'm going to kick this one off with something a little conventional - the fireworks display at Blackheath, in London last month! I've picked ten from the multitude - I hope that's not overdoing it?

Of course, once the show was over, the gathered crowd radiated into the surrounding streets!

This morning was very misty in the London Docklands. I saw something that I thought rather appropriate to the topic this week:

Nice piccy, Ian.

I kinda' hoped this topic would inspire more of a response, but at this cold and busy time of year, I've no doubt that people simply have more important things to do. As the POW is rarely limited to a standard week, I think it's safe to assume I'll meet no opposition to the suggestion that I leave this open for now - perhaps I'll have some nice piccies to look at when the festive season has reached a lull.

Might I take this opportunity (pre-emptively or belatedly) to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, a good Yule, a convivial Samhain, an enlightening Bodhi Day, a festive Dong zhi, a warm Modranect, a pleasant Diwali, a happy Hanukkah, a joyful Eid, an upbeat Yalda, a satisfying Saturnalia, and a wonderful festive season regardless of your system of beliefs!

It's about that time again... how long should I leave it? Has anybody anything else to post?

Well, it seems that I've scared everyone off. Thanks for your contribution, Ian. I think perhaps that you'd better take this one away.
