Got to chatting about some things and now looks like a good time to once again unleash the beast.

Edges with Sobel

Too bad I made such a mess of things. That's what happens when I think too much.

A small handful of tricks. A few things to think about.

Interestingly enough, wj, I am working on an application which is based on sobel edge detection, and have had to compare all existing detection algorithms
of this kind very recently. Have you tried canny edge? Would you mind benchmarking my app on Windows, helping me calibrate it?
If yes, argo.navis -> and this is a yahoo dawt com email adress.

Continueing

Edges with High Pass

More fun stuff to play with.

Can't say I've tried Canny. I've hacked a few bits-n-pieces of it, but nothing terribly serious.

The one I would really like to try is Frei-Chen. I'll get to this one of these days.

Revisiting and old trick before trucking on to more things.

This one has some refinements of things I've talked about in the past. In particular, frequency.

I jumped the gun a little bit with that last one. I got a little bit out of order with the way I wanted things to flow.

Funky Differences

That one should be between Splitting the Difference and Evil Twins.
Splitting the Difference > Funky Differences > Evil Twins

Feel the flow. See the connections.

Soooo. this is my most pricey jewel. Windows only for a couple more days, OSX/Linux/Unix friendly after.

(case sensitive also)

Quick and dirty manual (as it is in french, but only has a couple of options) :
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- it reads a bunch of formats (gif, tiff, png, jpeg, jpeg2000 and some more weirder ones, av. 15 different advanced formats) -> Menu "Fichiers - Importer"
- it writes png files (you have to name them fully, including the extension .png) -> Menu "Fichiers - Exporter"

In the meantime, it automatically "modified sobels" them in their original resolution.
The display size, and only the display size can be adjusted using buttons at the bottom right.

When exporting back, the file will keep it's original resolution.

I'd love a feedback on this one : as I said I've been trying a whole set of algorithms for the purpose of edge detection,
and ended up with this fairly fast version of it.
