Sorry I've not been a contender recently. When I get a little more settled into this circus I call a life, I'll be better able to participate. |

Is that something that happens to most of photographers/ photography enthusiasts/ people interested in photography? I've been so lazy recently. Everything is dark and cold outside. Brrr... Haven't taken any shots much less imaginative ones. Everything seems so dull and pointless in terms of photography... :P |

I'm actually quite miffed, because we've had snow for the past few days and everything is white and beautiful. |

I was going to be really cheap, and take a picture of the taps on the kitchen sink - I'm that lacking in inspiration right now. Apologies - might end up doing the taps anyway... I'll do it from an artistic angle, or something... |

Okay, so it may not be entirely what you expected, Ian, but I think these qualify (barely) for their range of 'hot' and 'cold' (or at least, warm and cool) colours. They were taken while having a beer on the south bank of the Thames and watching the sunlight disappear. |

Hot damn... that's a pretty cool phone cam |

I'd swear by Sony Ericsson. My phone has only a 2megapixel camera. Set to 'fine' quality, highest-res, I get 1632x1224 resolution images that resize to 1280 or 1024 rather nicely. Annoyingly, the camera doesn't like to focus at night, especially with lots of bright lights (night-time runway shots at City Airport, for instance). Aside from one or two small short-comings, I think these photos hold up nicely against a cheap 3mp+ camera any day. |

Weeell White Hawk, how about ya give us a new topic... this one seems to have been a resounding failure |

I don't think it was a failure at all - it was a good choice of subject... perhaps it was simply too good for the rest of us. |

One let-down with a mobile-phone's digital camera tends to be low-light performance. This particular phone (W800i) suffers from an apparent inability to auto-focus, especially when there are bright lights against a dark background. With a small amount of tweaking, I've tried to make the best of these images - I'm posting them just because they have some lovely colours (warm and cool, again). I've used a few of my free tries of Focus Magic to sharpen these up a bit - I'm further convinced that the demonstration pictures on the site were a little exaggerated. |
