at work so I can't get to YouTube. But I am guessing this is a video of someone playing guitar until their fingers bleed?

In college I was getting ready for my senior recital and I was playing upwards of 8 - 10 hrs a day. Somewhere along the line I got this funky black spot on the tip of my finger on the left hand. I thought my finger was rotting off.

It was from the sweat on my hand mixing with the nickle platting in the strings. It oxidized or something and it was probably 2 - 3 weeks before that spot went away.

Later,

C:\ Be sure to check out the video when you get home. This guy's on a 6 string bass and an example of what happens when you lock yourself in a room, for what some might say is far too long, and practice practice practice. Scales and modes like you've probably never seen before.

And somebody here not so very long ago posted a video of guitar lesson. I wanted to take the lesson...but I can't remember who it is.

Oh... and that funky black spot on the tip of your finger was most likely a blood blister.

Can't watch the video right now, but NJ was this the one?

I remembered I had been to that site and rediscovered the link through del.icio.us (searched for video guitar lessons and there's lots of other good stuff it seems). I think I might make delicious my default search engine soonish =)

no, I have a blood blister as we speak and that's not what it was. It had a bit of a green hue to it around the edges. I went to the doctor because of it even LOL. Freaked me out. My guitar instructor actually told me what was going on.

I am not sure about the purpose of a 6 string bass. If you are going to go through all the trouble of it, might as well learn to play a Chapman Stick IMHO.

kuckus:

No... that's not it. The one I'm thinking of is one of the inmates sitting there with his guitar giving a lesson. But thanks.

And C:\ I'd completely forgotten all about the stick. A friend has what I call a stick violin. It's just the neck... no body.

Wow ... Quite weird, actually.

This guy is indeed very talented and sure must have been training a lot (poor nails ! oO), but I'm not really fond of the music he makes, it sounds a bit like a cacophony to me, there is no real 'spirit' in his music. And in fact, I think I'm not that fond of the-more-it-has-strings-the-better basses (worst I saw was a 11-string bass I think), I'm more into traditionnal things

Speaking of that, I should get my christmas present tomorrow, a brand new cort b4 Can hardly wait hehe.

If you are into that kind of stuff, you should take a look a Victor Wooten videos on youtube, there are several lessons and solos, but what makes him unique is his music, it really has a soul
