I'll take your question as a genuine "difficult to think outside the browsers world" kind of requirement - I hate making it obvious, I hate being disappointed at your lack of finess here - I hate that, really, but let's go to facts : - google page ranks works wonders. - it works too well, see "google hacking" techniques that allow using simple queries to find restricted hardware or documents on the web. - it works so well that pages I never expected to be indexed about me have been - see a www.google.com query for Mauro Colella : top 5 results, me - specifically, business card and CV. But I can't find a consistent technical explanation as to why some things about OpenGL, Java, etc.. posted here do also land there. There is photograph named Mauro Colella. War heroes. I am a tech guy - why do I "pagerank" better even in some dumb posts? Why posts about OpenGL 4 Java rather than anything else I have done here? Got a clear cut answer? Not me. And it is COMPLETELY in line with the general theme of webdesign. - now, a blog without a link anywhere proposes the following technical interest : what the hell happens when there are no links, but just word of mouth? Does google spider it? And how? Where does it get to be classified. Have to get "word of mouth" started though, and it would be less of a pain to both you and me if you could do better than jumping to passive/agressive conclusions. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That was the purpose of the above post - it's a shame you see grocery where I see fun and interesting answers, and it's a shame you do so for having skipped, again, some reflexion time about the whole thing but if you need it obvious, there you go : your half empty bag of groceries is, in reality, half full (of useful informations for here and for yourself). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On a more personal note : you are invited. Not forced to demonstrate interest : I don't give a fuck wether you care to know. People who *are* interested will come, and the connexion between this and google ranking "out of the blue" will be very informative to me, and can be to you too. On a more personal side : I find it insulting you pretend to know, very inaccurate in addition. I expect silly controversy based on questionnable humor from Jestah - his name and purpose ARE well defined, he never did anything else here "over the years" and I do value some of his contributions, but just that much - not that controversy is a bad thing per se, but the "bias/prejudice" and jumping to conclusions MAKE IT a bad thing, which is not my problem as long as it remains relatively playful. Now, Jestah : Did you know I have worked in Israel one week after the end of war in 2006? Has anyone ever told you "I hope I will be alive tomorrow" and it meant something? Has a soldier girl ever pointed a gun to you during an interview? Did you know I have visited 12 countries within a year for different reasons and assignments, and lived many other situations of this kind? Do you still feel you can pretend you know me? And do you see how insulting it can be to be the target of a prejudice, let alone the "pat on the back" because really - my friends are people worthy of my respect, and it is something you earn - prejudices lose you brownies points. Cheers, have more questions, please deliver.
