I've been posting quite a few things about google search/index algorithms, because some technicalities seemed too obvious to be false. Bottom line : I was certain for a long time now that google "must" filter the quality of pages - and I always was amazed at how frequently the Asylum pops in google queries (about relevant topics). ..I just should have googled the idea ,) Proof of concept : -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Google's new spider Google's webmaster guidelines Google 101 : How google crawls (...) Summary :
When a user enters a query, our machines search the index for matching pages and return the results we believe are the most relevant to the user. Relevancy is determined by over 200 factors, one of which is the PageRank for a given page.
(btw : the technical aim of the much flamed "book of shadow" approach is to eliminate those factors one by one, until I know and have reversed the true list of ingredients)
Google works hard to improve the user experience by identifying spam links and other practices that negatively impact search results. The best types of links are those that are given based on the quality of your content.
What this means, among useful indications for webmasters, is that the Googlebot (aka Google's searcher/crawler/spider) DOES "intelligentely" censor - check - RATE the quality of the crawled web pages. While it consists of monstruous halls and gazillions of posts, the Asylum gets regular and thorough indexing from Google - even the sink and dark areas do get the treatment - and it does totally mean that every single "cell" is of high quality in terms of "informational weight about the relevant topics". I already have a lot more informations about this for myself : I'll save them for later, when I feel 100% safe about potential "pee pee battles" - I've had enough for the next 1500 years in my taste.
