I am on XP home here. >> but as if the mouse were a few pixels to the left of where it actually is The position of the mouse is used as a "target for dynamic deceleration" of the volume knob movement, eg, the pos at any given time is "median of (mousex - knobpos)" - or at least it should be (and completely looks like that here and on my ipod touch). (anyhow, a proper implementation of this based on the right properties should fix these quirks altogether - off to nightly classes, networking course).
