Hey there! Posting this here as I do not want to get the extra attention from people with a destructive intent - I hate drama, and love forums where people can express themselves on topics other than christianity and the impact of fairytale movies on the well being of mankind - after my trip to Israel, I am sure babies in some countries have many more reasons than "Harry Potter" and the likes to question christianity and the sanity of the "elders" - but I cannot lend you my eyes for you to see that what the media depict is not half as intense as what really happens. Quito, Latacunga, Tel Aviv, Ashdod, Haifa, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Prague, Rome, Ancona, La Spezia... these are some of the places I've visited recently. In Ashdod, the northern port of Gaza, workers are afraid to open containers, in fear to get a palestinian bullet through their forehead - since it happened, don't take my word, google it instead. I am posting this to pay you all the courtesy of letting you know why you will seldom see me in a while. But before that.... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maz Letov for the 20 liners this month : excellent stuff all the way. Take my tip and forget "put/getimagedata", they both suck (unstable, poorly implemented and slow - sorry for people who work for browser vendors, report asap that canvas for pixel stuff sucks balls, it does). Back to the topic at hands : ----------------------------- Lifelifelife moves fast. I've been a consultant for a company for 2.5 years now : through them I worked for Philip Morris (2x1 year), Nestle, EFG Money bank, UNICC (United nations infrastructure) and DHL in very different assignments ranging from MS SQL DBA to HP UX developer to... You name it : specialization is for insects. I love toys, and making toys : I pitty people who miss the point of coding for passion, and feel an urge to show and prove - must be a sad life... but none of the DHTMLites are concerned : y'all do really great at making this forum live. I am starting my own business and have met great people in the "private" part of my life : will argo have babies in 2008? Time will tell. But until then, the professor (in signal treatment) who is my business partner is introducing me to a lot of companies - many of which require specific development : those who can have probably noticed by now that I know a couple of things about integrating heterogenous technologies (Flash/Java/PHP/Javascript for instance). ... So I am left with the difficult choice of giving up on toymaking for a while, and concentrating on the real world priorities at hand. At some point I'll be able to handle it all, but right now, it's just too much - dinners/business/meetings/pricing/negotiating/moving/fixing/ documenting/licensing/... The beginning of a company has a lot in common with the early days of a baby : a baby needs the attention, all of it, all the time, until he can walk on it's legs. A baby will whine at night to call for security, food, clean panties, whatever - similarly, a baby company needs maximum focus and availability to get to "sail" safely. The mentionned company will reopen doors fully in about six months - for now, it's all argo and his professor buddy, and our future employees, fighting the commercial/legal/branding early battles. If you believe in the flying spaghetti monster as much as I do, have a meatball and a prayer for me - and innovation, for this world does need new perspectives.
