During a course of mine we talked about Perfect Software. We managed to reduce the criteria down to 2:

1. The Software is not being changed
2. The Software is still being used activly

I had to write a 10 Liner about either a perfect Software or why i think there is no perfect Software and if it where good that perfect Software did not exsist.

TeX itself is pretty close to being perfect... (Latex and other extensions are another matter... but core tex has stayed unchanged for a long time and is still in use)

Someone around here had a tagline regarding Perfect Software...

Something along the lines of it only existing in the Programmers imagination and on the salesman's lips.

It was something like that.

I think "Perfect Software" would be something that worked consistently and did it's given job on a given platform no matter how that platform changed.

That might be a bit much to ask though
