Priest-Cosmologist Wins $1.6 Million Templeton Prize

I found this to be interesting.

quote:
Professor Heller said he believed, for example, that the religious objection to teaching evolution ?is one of the greatest misunderstandings? because it ?introduces a contradiction or opposition between God and chance.?

In a telephone interview, Professor Heller explained his affinity for the two fields: ?I always wanted to do the most important things, and what can be more important than science and religion? Science gives us knowledge, and religion gives us meaning. Both are prerequisites of the decent existence.?

Although I do not think that one must have religion to have meaning, I sure wish that more Religious folks and Institutions would follow his example.

That I know of many do but you are not aware to them as you do not travel in religious circles.
I, myself do believe that the theory of evolution does not have to be at odds with the story of Genesis as the story of Genesis I believe is misunderstood by many persons of the Christian faiths.
Here lies the misconception. I also believe with time that many scientist will find more discoveries that will lead them to discovering who is the designer of all things created that evolved us to what we are today.

Well, if true Jade, then I regard that as a giant step forward in your development.

Nice to hear.

Step forward..???

I have related this before on this forum on more than one occasion/topic many moons ago.

You may have overlooked it. This means you may have judged some religions unfairly by associating sects with others in terms of beliefs as in guilty by Christian association.

I'm waiting for them to find the 'Made on Mars' logo embedded in our DNA.

Actually, I have noticed subtle changes in what you post in recent times that are a departure from your earlier rabid self.

To see you reiterate that you are becoming more moderate and more accepting of both Science and Evolution seems to be a giant step forwards to me.

But that is just me.

You see, there are others on this board that demonstrate that one can be both Religious and moderate - and they are more similar to Professor Heller in belief. To see you moving in that direction in your development is something I regard as positive.
