Does anyone know a reliable (free?) folder protection software? i would prefer password protection but i'm open for anything else as well. i've tried google and came across these: |

If it's all the same to you, you can use ZIP archives, they encrypt contained files with a password. Though I must say, 7-Zip (it's free and open source) is much better for this. Using archives allows them to be portable, that may or may not be what you want. |

You'll need to specify more information on what you want to accomplish. |

I second TP's suggestion on TrueCrypt. It's really a good piece of software. |

It will encrypt and hide a folder that you specify. It will show the folder and contents as a drive when you run TrueCrypt. Once you exit TrueCrypt, the drive goes away. |

I use Blowfish to encrypt files & folders on external disks: |
