Topic: Server not found

Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at www.google.com.

I get this every 4th or 5th http request - google or other.
I'm holding for tech support but expect the classic "everything is fine on our end"
this just happened out of the blue this week - no hardware changes, even upgraded ff and that didn't help.
have not tried IE

cable service or something else?

Sounds a little like a NIC going flakey.

When it happens, you could try a tracert and see how far the packets are getting.

drop to a command line and see if you are getting an ip address. "ipconfig" on windows "ifconfig" on Mac or Linux.
If you are, and you get it from a NAT router, you could plug directly into your modem line and see if you get an outside IP.

or you might just reset both the NAT router and the modem and see if it comes back.

But hyperbole's suggestion sounds about right. Sounds like a flaky nic.

Not a NIC as there are 3 PCs on this network and a game console...all having the same problems.
Actually, the Cable company said the problem is indeed on their end..the cable guy will show up tomorrow .
