That's what this place is about, in part, sharing crazy ideas and pushing each other creatively. :) XBM I think should work in IE 8 at least, but it sounds like data: is what was broken in IE 7 (and possibly IE 6? I forget when it went bad..), and BMP/GIF would at least allow for colour - Anyway, yes, hopefully data: will be back and functional with IE 8 when it ships. I understand data: is part of the ACID test, so it should be in there in at least a limited fashion.
