I think it's best to say, though, that Americans like to celebrate major holidays by getting together and stuffing themselves with turkey. In other words, it's more a function of [i]how[/i] we celebrate holidays than a characteristic of the holiday itself. Does that make sense? All the other elements of Christmas and Thanksgiving are quite disparate. For example, there is no music associated with Thanksgiving, but Christmas music is a genre unto itself. @reisio: fascinating!
