[/quote] I don't necessarily disagree with anything you've written hyperbole, but I'm not all that sure how applicable any of it is to the discussion of gay rights - at least from the standpoint of a US citizen. While I certainly believe in equal rights for all, I think this whole gay rights movement is largely nonsense and equating it with genuine civil rights movements (I don't mean to say that you are) does a disservice for genuine civil rights movements. For the most part, I fail to see where the civil rights of gays are being trampled on exclusively. No matter how proponents frame it, it really isn't anything like slavery and so on.
