Hello

I have scanned a book I have and want to transfer it to a PDF. What program (free preferably) do you suggest to simply and automatically bind these number jpegs into a PDF?

Thanks

Hm... any modern ocr should be able to do this.
I've had good results with Abby finereader and there's a trial version
(don't know how it is limited though).

ouch...scanned to JPEG? Don't have the option PDF eigh? bummer...

Could try to use CutePDF to print each one and it will save it as PDF. Not sure on Windows how to combine them without something like Acrobat. Linux has a nice tool that will do it though. Have access to Linux by chance?

Irfanview has a batch rename option for pdf.
I've used it to change jpg to gif, but never for pdf. It has the option though.

Imagemagick will bundle them to a pdf easily. But you won't be able to search them (or copy/paste for that manner), and it'll remain at whatever size your jpegs are right now (plus a little, I guess).

I haven't done it myself, but, I think you can use OpenOffice to do that. It runs on Windows, Linux, Solaris, or MacIntosh.
