Hello

I am looking to be able to allow users to show or hide any of the columns of a particular table, and to be able to change the order of the columns as well (dynamically, of course, without reload. drag and drop re-rordering preferably).
I want to be able to store the user preferences as well (will probably be storing various user preference details in DB already) and display the saved view on load.

I am hoping to gradually add a variety of javascript UI enhancements to various parts of the site (particularly with forms and table views), and am wondering if I should be looking at using a library like jQuery perhaps...

My knowledge of javascript is extremely limited, so I am looking for as much pre-fab as possible!

I would appreciate any input on where/how to start with this, and any tips as far as the bigger picture, being able to progressively add bits of functionality to a site with javascript.

Not a big fan of YUI, but they are at least pretty comprehensive about what they go after.

You could definitely combine a few little JS libs or jQuery plugins, too... some here (find 'table'):

Interesting stuff.
Thanks, resio

I have been looking into using various jQuery plugins since I posted this. I must admit to being a little confused, not having used anything like it before!

Looks like I have a bit of reading ahead of me still

DL- went to in-dented to check out the newest and greatest and, despite reloading a bunch of times over a while, this is what I ran into:

http://bayimg.com/cAOFfaABf

Warning: include(/home/.dustin/jlbriggs/in-dented.net/includes/links_inc.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/jlbriggs/in-dented.net/includes/head.php on line 5
Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening '/home/.dustin/jlbriggs/in-dented.net/includes/links_inc.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/jlbriggs/in-dented.net/includes/head.php on line 5
Warning: include(/home/.dustin/jlbriggs/in-dented.net/includes/gallery_inc.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/jlbriggs/in-dented.net/includes/head.php on line 6

etc...etc...etc...

I'm on Ubuntu Hardy running Firefox 3.0.7- just thought I'd mention that even though it seems to be server-side.

Good Luck! Let me know if you need anything else- email me at Asylum_Username@gmail.com

I've tried to contact DL about that a few times in the past couple of months too via here and gmail too.
Same thing as Petskull's screen grab. Using Ubuntu, XP Home, XP Professional 64Bit, on Firefox 3. 0 7

Yeah, I haven't touched in-dented in a while...I have seen the errors...but haven't had time to correct them.
Must have been a change on Dreamhost's end...

thanks
