I spent a few hours to-day trying to set up some macro photographs of a fly that was falling about all over my windowsill. While setting that shot up I practised with a series of shots of plants that I hope to use in a stack. The fly ended up as a snack for my new Venus fly trap (Dionaea muscipula). This is the fly trap in question. I think you should be able to make out the three trigger hairs on either side of the leaf trap. This is one of those traps even closer. The surface of the inside of the traps is coated in a type of nectar that attracts the insects This third shot is just about the closest I could get. This is the trigger hair that, if touched two or three times, will cause the trap to close.
