Hi guys, I am new here, and I searched around a bit but didn't find what I was looking for. You all seem to know quiet a bit about this stuff though, so maybe you could give me some pointers (:

My question is how to go about fetching all mails from a mail server (pop3, one account) to a server. I need this in order to insert them into a database.
It would be nice if it could be done with ASP since that is what I am stuck using atm (:

Anyway, any input is welcome.

Thank you!

well, I'm certain a bit of googling will find you asp pop3 connectors,
that you then can supply with a cron job.

Real solution would involve fetchmail or similar though.

Are we talking classic ASP?

Yep, classic ASP, heh.

I found a free component that is supposed to be able to do what I want.. so I am going to try that first.

But I am interested in finding a better solution like you say is possible with fetchmail. It would be working without ASP I suppose?
I have no idea actually, I feel like I have to do some research..

Thanks for the tips.

what is this? 1999? Why in the world would anybody implement new features in 'classic' (-the-horror-) ASP?

Yes, a solution based on established mail software will be quite a bit more robust than most things you could implement quickly.

So long,
