Hi folks,

I am currently working on a project which will involve sending/receiving text messages, then reviewing the received text messages and using them ? so they need to be somehow downloaded onto the computer for easy copy-pasting. This will be done from the head office of my company in Switzerland to and from mobile phones in various locations in the World. I am looking into the cheapest solutions to do this, which means it may involve some manual work.

So far I have thought about simply buying a dedicated mobile phone which I would synchronise with my computer (Mac running Mac OSX) in order to retrieve text messages automatically. Or it seems I can use USB modems in combination with a sim card. Or else I believe I can use online services for this, but it might prove somewhat expensive.

What are your thoughts? How would you approach this problem? Have you used any of the above, or perhaps something else?

Some help with this would be fabulous!

Cheers,
kimson

personally, I'd aproach one of the mobile phone providers for some kind of sms-webservice gateway,
and I'd imagine it to soon be cheaper than using a regular phone for this (depending on the number of messages of course). It's gotta be more reliable, anyhow.

Thanks for your reply TP. Still debating on the best way to do this...

Has anyone got some experience in cobbling up something to do just that? Are there ways to "intercept" texts in a secure manner from web apps?
