The amount of compression necessary on Wolf1k in particular is impressive, and even borders on the disturbing. Most of the entries in the contest aren't very good, but one of the ones that impressed me in particular was TinyChess (http://js1k.com/demo/750), which plays a reasonable game of chess in 1K, GUI and all. The fact that the rules of the game fit into 1K already astounds me, but squeezing an alpha-beta search in there too is awesome. I was going to enter myself, but I've yet to be able to come up with an interesting program to write--none of my ideas were anything new or different. (This isn't a problem particular to the contest, I've been in a programming rut since January.) Loading...
