Heheh... No but I'm thinking about getting one and I don't have far to look... this fella lives right across the street ... so it's very tempting. Prices are out of reach unfortunately but every once in a while he refurbishes a beater that get within my means.

while we're at ukuleles, let's not forget the Ukulel Orchestra of Great Britain - though my most favourite of their pieces is an acapella Pinball wizzard

Several years ago one of my girls was learning the recorder. I stole her stuff and practiced every day. It was a great deal of fun. My favorite song to play was Pitty the Poor Pitat. But my big problem with the recorder is that is a wind instrument and I couldn't sing along with my own playing.

Several months ago my both of my girls brought home cheap ukeleles. My mother took them to a Mexican festival of sorts and they brought home very cheap instruments (think Mariachi, which I do not like for the most part for personal reasons). Girlie #2 brought home a 4-string and I really enjoyed learning to play it. But, like I said, very cheap and not that great for learning on. I did very little playing/learning with it.

After a great deal of thought, only two instruments that are good for this house: bongos and ukele. After a few months hiatis, maybe time to get serious again. I mean, one thing that I have always been envious of is a house filled with self-played music. I can handle learning the ukele, but I don't know if Girlie #2 can handle banging on bongos. Bongos are wanton and all that like Girlie #2, but I don't know if she can handle the self-discpline for keeping things under control the tiniest bit.

Heh. We'll see.

One of my old friends had a house full of such self-played music. Everybody knew how to play the piano, two drummers and a father that was magic with a trombone. And the clarinet players there. Being an only child at the time, it was absolute magic seeing a family jam like that.
