After 7 years, they finally found the bug that the flooding prevention only prevented flooding one thread,
not multiple.
Well, that's fixed now, the account has been banned, the posts removed...

Yes, excellent work for certain. However, I should mention a few glitches that such spammers might use in the future.

If I am to quote Wikipedia text that contains [ 2 ] or similar references, and wrap it in "quote" tags, it translates to bizzarity. (edit : it does that when I use square brackets with or without quote tags actually, hope this post renders correctly, anything between square brackets "turns" strangely).

I have no idea how, or if this could be exploited at all, but someone willing to search deep enough might find out. I would, therefore, suggest a win-win-win solution :

GitHub open sourcing the code.

This can promote your work (the forum engine is cool), help alleviate the code maintenance tasks, since anyone can send a branching request on GitHub (it's social version-control after all), and thereby, help prevent such occurrences in the future.

Plus it can attract many more lunatics to the party, so, there go my 2 cents.

[ 32244 ] links to the page with id 32244 - in this case here as in Damn spammers - and you can prevent it by disabling linkwords.

The forum engine is turning 10 next year - just dumping it in the street will not help anyone, and I do not have the time (nor the interest) to build a community around it.

number2 become #number2, fine, you just never know what users cram in those fields : working with Drupal recently, I have checked their lists of input filtering precautions, all I can say is it's pretty extreme (and still safe "enough" but).

GitHubbing requires no time, peeps come or go as they please, you only have to elect in/out. This is how jQuery was maintained last time I checked, more and more libraries or public software follow this alley.

Whatever is not under NDA for me goes there nowadays : yes, it resisted time, but evolution makes for even better resistance, because the surrounding "ecosystem" evolves.

Edit : nope, can't reproduce. Had the problem when I posted Wikipedia quotes earlier in the philosilliness forum, but all seems fine with special links processing. The rest holds true, the Drupal forms API guidelines have a lot of good ideas to them about stopping spammers namely.
