I created my webpage in Word2000 but the code is bloated and it doesn't work in other browsers. What is the problem?

Word 2000 is not a HTML editor (see FAQ 'What software do I need to create a web page?' for recommended HTML editors) it is useful for converting text based documents into HTML but it shouldn't be used to create a web page. One real problem is that it adds large amounts of extra tags (some pages can be bloated to two or three times their size) and these tags are only intended to allow you to 'round-trip' your page between a web browser and Word 2000 and aren't intended for online use. You can use HTML Tidy to rd yourself of these tags see: HTML Tidy but the best advice is to download the Office 2000 HTML Filter from: Word cleanup It will also tend to code specifically for Microsoft's own browser Internet Explorer and so it can look bad in other browsers (depending on what you are doing.
