As I've said... I used to do a fair amount of on-line gaming. And although I forced myself to leave most of that behind, there is one game that will forever remain on my machine... Maelstrom. If there ever was a game to end all games for me.... it'd be this cheesy little number. I believe I first found it back in...... mmmm.... 1996?... while I was in a "desktop publishing" class in high school. Then the following year I didn't play it at all.... as a matter of fact, I don't recall ever even thinking about the game after I left that class. Fast forward a few years to me living in Japan... the year 2000. Sitting at my machine late one night and for some odd reason remembering this highly addictive little beast. I did some searching around and managed to grab the free download.... and then silently played the rest of the night away. It became something that I'd do when I didn't feel like playing other online games, or when my ISP went down and I couldn't get online. Then I sort of forgot about it again after I formatted my machine. Then I remembered yet again... and re-downloaded it in 2001.... and got 2 friends hooked on it as well. At that point... I started to play at least one game of it a day. That soon faded though.... and other things became more important to me... and I stopped playing again. Then I moved to Iceland in 2002. I formatted my machine a few months back, and the disk that I thought I had burned my Maelstrom scores onto, did not contain the data it was supposed to. (I ended up burning two of another back-up disk of mp3's, instead of one mp3 disk, and then the disk containing some odd and ends....... I'm an idiot, I know.) So here I am... still playing Maelstrom nearly 7 years after originally seeing it. Amazing how those old games still have their spunk and appeal, isn't it? So anyway.... This is Maelstrom. It's a really simple game. Asteroids n' stuff fly all over the place..... and you shoot them. Avoid and/or kill the bad guys when they come out.... Grab the good stuff when it pops up... And do it all quickly for bonus points. This is a screenshot. woo! just makes ya wanna play, doesn't it! =D Anyway... Go download it ---> here Play it a few times. It's a throw back to the old days of gaming simplicity... and you're sure to like it. Despite my game or two that I play of it, each night... I pretty much suck ass at it. heh. My high score is in the low 400,000's.... and the highest wave I've ever reached is 26. Go play. I must say it is a blast to play, and without reservation I give it my seal of approval. I feel so honored... This is like winnin' a grammy.... but like.... 20 times better and 2,000 times less popular... wooo! =D hehe... I appreciate you checkin' it out. The addiction continues.. Here's my current high score list: Anyone else got a high score list to post up? Les'see it!
