Some of this I was aware of but obviously not all. It's stuff like this that just makes you wanna smack bill uplongside the head.

Someone here recently posted a link to a site that had software that removed (allegedly)the spyware built into xp. Anyone know that link?

billy must have been listening to that fellow he hired from sgi.. you know the guy that took that company from the heights down into the mud? i forget his name, but he didn't last the 5 years he was contracted for.. sgi bought out his contract and then billy boy hired him

Heh...you'd be surprised, what some people won't believe...or do, for that matter.

However, I do think the tide is finally starting to turn, against Microsoft...how glad I am, that I didn't go out and buy XP...what a piece of cr*p for an OS...

ack! i read about this a couple weeks ago....can't remember where...but whatever site it was had an email thing where you could send them an email aginst this and they would then forward it on to ms and all sorts of government officals.
i'll dig around and see if i can't find that again....

I personally use Win98ME...and have no problems with it. It is stable (remarkably enough, after all the work I've done on it), and runs everything fine.

ws.. i am running win98 also, but i can't imagine the general user will be happy about having MS monitoring them! it may be that the community will continue to create tools to disable the features mentioned in the article, in which case, MS may not go down the tubes..

As the article points out, some areas are just not known for what they do, in the case of XP. So the only ones who really know what kind of 'holes' it has, is M$.

This issue with XP is what held me back from buying it. That, and the fact that Win98ME runs fine...so why upgrade to something that one cannot trust? I don't want M$ 'mucking about' inside of my computer! If Linux would finally come out with a version that would run PS flawlessly, I'd drop M$ OS overnight. I really like Linux...just wish it was a bit more flexible...but I suspect the change is coming...can't wait for the day...

I remember sometime ago I read something about Bill Gates investing 100 or 200 million dollars in Apple. I'm pretty sure I read somthing like this. Why would he invest in the Apple company?
