this is really starting to tick me off. My site's control panel is not operational. This is the one that oversee all that goes on with my site which is provided by my host. Thing is my site is still seeble. like the shell is there but there is no yolk.

any suggestions, laughing, or what ever you may have?

~Manically Laughs~

Have you contacted the site that hosts your site? Or "the guy in charge" that could help you. Other than that, I'd second norm.

I'm going to go for the laughing option there. You may be in trouble if it's a free host because they usually dont like to give a lot of help. If youre paying for it tho then you should contact the man behind the curtain. he should be able to help you.

Happened to me recently. I contacted my service and they figured out the problem and restarted the control panel application.

Remember, web site control panels are just another program that runs. If that program isn't working, it won't necessarily take down the whole server. Further, the control panel doesn't even have to run on the same server. It only needs appropriate permissions on your server.

Mm, yep.

These are the things that 'customer service' is around for. =)

I'll second (or third, whatever) the customer service option...

But while we're on rants and raves, I'd just like to share something here. No, it doesn't have anything to do with the Asylum, but it's something that's been bugging me. My host has a mailing list, which I presumed was for people to share ideas, tips, tricks, etc. It is generally flooded with messages from people who are having problems, though--and if the problem is universal (say, for example, a server goes down), you can expect to see about a dozen or so messages saying the exact same thing.

Now, the guy who runs the company is a very nice guy, and he is very good about answering e-mail and fixing problems--even problems that he shouldn't have to fix, like stupid things that we (cough) do from time to time. What I don't understand is why people feel the need to post message after message on the mailing list when they can just send an e-mail straight to our host guy and get a much quicker reply. Is it the misery loves company thing? Does it somehow make them feel better to know that other people out there are suffering with them, even though it does nothing to alleviate the problem? Every time I open up my mailbox and see a digest full of "Mercury down?" messages, I just want to stab someone repeatedly with a spork!

Whew, OK, I think I'm feeling a little better now. I just needed to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening.

Why is it a "spork" and not a "foon"?

Dunno... I think it's just because spork sounds cooler. And it may also be because it's mostly spoon, with just a little bit of fork mixed in.

Yes, the issue has been resolved. I believe the overwhelming majority were in favor of "spork" over "foon."
