Yannah: Don't take this the wrong way, but is it possible that you hate the movie because you don't understand what it's trying to accomplish? It is a satirical film, poking fun at a genre--the "fantasy/adventure" genre--so if you don't appreciate the original genre you may not appreciate TPB. And I suppose the style of humor does not appeal to everyone... my wife loved it, though.

Don't have one favorite movie, but these among my favorites are (in no special order)
- Nightmare Before Christmas
- Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
- Boondock Saints
- Blade Runner
- Delicatessen
- Dances With Wolves
- The Godfather
- American History X
- Pulp Fiction
- The Crow
- Kelly's Heroes
- The Untouchables
- Interview with a Vampire

Both the Matrix and the Lord of the Rings trilogies should probably be there, but I'm not sure until I've seen all of them.

I can name my Top 10 movie list in a heart beat.... I'm very passionate about movies, mainly because I wan't to make them myself.

1. The Crow
2. Terminator 2
3. The Ring
4. Dark City
5. In Dreams
6. Sphere
7. The Crow: City of Angels
8. The Salton Sea
9. From Hell
10. The Gift

Let me start by saying that I am a long time fan of Terminator 2. For about 6 years of my life that was my favorite movie of all time, I just couldn't get over it. It made me love James Cameron in many ways... The plot, the action, even the soundtrack (which I own) was done so perfectly, it seemed that James Cameron did nothing half ass with that movie. So I solute you Dan and synax. And though the T3 trailer doesn't look very promising I'm expecting great things from the movie.

I had also seen The Crow and The Crow: City of Angels when I was very young as well, and though I still liked Terminator 2 as my favorite movie, The Crow and The Crow: City of Angels held a high place in my mind. Around near the age of 13, 14, or something. I watched both of those again on DVD. I suppose the second time around it made things much more clear to me, (strangely I understood the plot of T2 but not The Crow when I first saw it) I ended up loving The Crow very much in that it was so surreal and bleak it was very emotionally wrenching for me to watch, and still is. But, not to be confused, T2 and The Crow are very, very, close in my mind as to which is my favorite. But The Crow is just a little more my kind of movie.

The Ring. Ugh, don't get me started. I went to see this in theaters around the same time every other teenage male was going to see Jackass. I went with two of my friends who had already seen the movie, but had missed the first 10 minutes. after about the first 30 minutes of the movie I was glued to it by it's awesome cinematography, oh the bleak shots with that green filter over Seattle. And Naomi Watts is such a great (and sexy) actress. After the movie was over I was just so hopped up on the plot it was amazing, I have a thing for movies that take a little more knowledge to understand. To me that movie had every element of a great movie: Plot, Characterization, Cinematography, Score and Backround Music, Acting.... Everything. When I went home I immediately got online to search... And then I found Ringu and all sorts of other Japanese collectable sequals/prequals. Then I read an FAQ based on the american version and everything became so clear. I think Gore Verbinski did a great job directing the movie, and I highly anticipate Pirates of the Carribean to be great.

And I suppose I could babble on about my other favorites, but I don't think anyone wants to read that.

I've misintrepreted *like I always do* the title of the movie. I thought that you were talking about The Princess Diary which I totally didn't like.
Now I know what The Princess Bride is: it's a fairy tale. Somewhat like LOTR.

I didn't know there was a movie of 'where the red fern grows'. That was one of my favorite books of all time from when I was a child...

As far as favorite movie? Sheesh, couldn't even come close to picking one...depends on the day, my mood, etc...

But, let's see if I can pick a few .... (in no particular order of course)

Conan the Barbarian
Excalibur
Clash of the Titans
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (I mean, the whole trilogy, but...out of them that's the one)
To Kill a Mockingbird
Raising Arizona
The Big Lebowski
Brother Where Art Thou
A Simple Plan
The Secret of Nimh
Fried Green Tomatoes
Scar Face
The Last Temptation of Christ
Platoon
Full Metal Jacket
Drugstore Cowboy
errr......god there's just too many that fit into the "favorite" category, and not a single one that I could really pick as "it"

Raising Arizona
The Big Lebowski
Memento
Drugstore Cowboy
The Untouchables
Iron Monkey
The Lady in White
The Golden Child

And a bunch more. The Lady in White and Golden Child are pretty cheesy,
but they remind me of being young, and they are both pretty cool movies.
