Insane since: Jun 2003	posted 07-10-2003 08:44 I do photoshop renderings of 3D drawings, then turn them from bmps to gifs, then do html coding to put them on my website (Lycos/Tripod.com). When I'm offline, IE-6 "scrunches" the gifs up into the upper left hand corner, and reduces the size by about 1/50th of their original size, then locks up the computer. Since it only happens OFFLINE, I have been told that it's something in Photoshop (6.0) and Internet Explorer 6.1........Do you know of any known conflicts that I could try to solve? It's a pain in the butt to have this happening over and over, but never knowing when it will happen (not consistant), and how long it will take to shut down and restart to get things working again. Any ideas / help will be appreciated....a lot. religion + oil = war, over and over and over and over..........

If you haven't already... go to the adobe site and download "ps601up.exe". You should have the update even if it doesn't rectify that specific problem. Some pretty cool machines you got there btw but I'm curious as to why you're putting them out as gifs. I think even an heavily compressed jpeg would produce a better quality image. Welcome btw. =)

I used to send up jpgs, but in Photoshop 6, there's a specific line "Save for the Web", which automatically turns the images into gifs. That's why I was using it. Also, when I work on a jpg (converted from a bmp), it seems to be "smeared" in Photoshop, while the bmp seems more clean, therefore, easier to work on. Maybe it's my "old" Pentium 3 machine? In the save fo the web dialog, click some of those arrows and you`ll find several more options. Explore them.

Thanks for the reply. I used to send up jpgs, but in Photoshop 6, there's a specific line
"Save for the Web", which automatically turns the images into gifs. That's why I was using it.

If it`s possible, try exporting them as .tiff (lossless format) Not entirely sure what you mean by *3D drawings*, but saving as a gif limits you to 256 colors.
In the *save fo the web* dialog, click some of those arrows and you`ll find several more options. Explore them.
