hey dudes, my computer is having major issues. my bro says it has a memory leak or sumpin like that. like after its been on for more than sayyy...2-3 hours, it starts running very slowly, and wont let me minimize/maximize windows, and the worst part is you cant start up any programs. when i try to click on something it says "there is not enough memory to open this program" the only way to to make it stop is just to reboot. and also, if left running for an exuberant amount of time a white window pops up and says "Warning! The system is dangerously low on resources!" so yeah you get the point. what am i to do?!? my dad is also thoroughly confuzzled. welp, thanks for any help!!

pace out

3 possibles to check:

1) Install any new programs, say within the last week?

3) Any hardware or software settings changed?

2) It could be a virus thats filling up your memory.

Based on your thorough report I'd say that your hardware has no problem. You're software must be to blame. When things get to the point you described, it's time for a complete reinstallation of Windows - after a re-format, for instance. Try not to use WinMe.

Try using RamBooster (it should help free up spare RAM and will also help monitor RAM and CPU usage):

Also press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to get your task manager up and see i anything odd is running in the background.

heya thanks for the replies guys.

tj333: nope. no new programs installed.this has actually been going on for several months. one day it just started. any hardware or software changes? not that i know of. my dad has tried to fix it, he was messin with lots of stuff. it helped a bit (prolonged time of usage before it goes haywire) and yes, a memory greedy virud is prolly to blame.

outcyder: yes, we do disc clean-up and de-fag regularly. and thanks for the link

emperor: when i push ctrl alt delete there are like 15 useless programs. my dad says they have a purpose, but they seem to do nothing. and thanks for that linky, ill get my dad to do that.

P.S. my dad is very knowledgable with computers. he is not a clueless bum like i am. jes to let you know. but he still is confuzzled.

thanks for your help dudes!
