It's only important if someone else is going to be using the computer after you get off. In that case, if you don't sign out, then they might be able to get into your email, pretending that they're you. This only works because they're on the same computer, so the web site can't tell that they're not the same person. So you should sign out when using a public computer, like at a library or something. |

I often sing out when I am on the Internet, but only because I am usually the only one home. I prefer show tunes, because they have that rousing razzle-dazzle feel to them, and they seem to make my connection run faster, too. In addition, they are also often easy to perform using the rhythmic buttocks slapping method. |

Also, with a lot of these communicator programs, closing the window (black-x-ing it) doesn't close the connection, just the interface. You may well still get other people messaging you - including (and in particular) those annoying "spam whores" selling pr0n sites. Best to select "sign off and exit" from the menu when you're done. |
