Am trying to access a shared folder from a windows 2000 workstation.
But when I check the network places from a windows 98 workstation I cant see the folder. This is not the case when I do the same using a windows 2000 workstation.
Any ideas???

I had that problem when I switched my Win2000 filesystem from FAT32 to NTFS. There is probably an Active Directory Client or something that will let Win98 read the filesystem properly. I haven't bothered with it - all my systems are now running NT 5.0 or higher.

The share should be visible, even if it's on an NTFS volume. You just wouldn't be able to see anything on it.

There are NTFS drivers for Windows 98 out there. You just gotta find them.

jd and Pugz....thanks for ur help....but the solution was so simple ( thanks to google)

" If you have Windows95/98/ME systems,
which need to access this share, limit the
name to max. 12 characters, otherwise
the share will NOT be listed in the
Network Neighborhood of Win9x/ME..
You can still access such a share via the
NET USE-command "

the folder had 13 xters
