OK. I have a 1991 Subaru Legacy. 130,000 miles. Runs fine (but needs around $1500 ? $2,000 in repairs. It took me to Colorado and back!). I now live in the city and no longer have a need for it. My mechanic recommended selling it- of course being honest with the buyer. I will hand over the entire history or the car (repairs, etc.). I could get about $1500 - $2000.

Now my car is parked at my parents in the suburbs so they will be around when people stop by the house to see the car and I will be 40 miles away in Brooklyn (yes only 40 minutes, but 2 hours door to door travel). I guess I could say in the ad "only showing on weekends" and travel up there and personally show it . .

or, put together a list of answers to any questions the seller could possibly have and create a mini-pamphlet so my parents can simply hand it over to them or put a bunch in a box and leave it outside their front door. I could provide my phone number and email address for further inquiries.

Or, just thought of this! Post the question/answers on my website and directions to the parked car. That way I do not have to bother my parents.

Good idea? If so, let me pose this question to you: What questions would you want answers to if you were interested in my car? We can begin with the obvious:

1. Mileage?
2. Current condition?
3. Paper work history?
4. Why am I selling it?
5. Year?

Thanks.

Ok, yup. My dad has a list of stuff from the mechanic that needs repairs. Oil question I did not see coming. Duly noted.

Thanks

How much of all the fluids does it use (transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid, oil, pissers fluid, coolant...)?

Has it has any previous major work (engine, transmission, driveline, body, etc rebuilt/worked on)?

Gas mileage?

Spare tire and jack go with it?

Air conditioner and heater up to par? A/C been converted over to the 'new' freon?*

* 'new' = legal. Not too long ago, someone, somewhere changed the standards, so it's a good possibility that you still have the older system in the car. It's not a problem if it's the older kind, just that when the A/C goes out and they need the freon recharged, it'll have to be converted over, which isn't neccessarily cheap (my car was $350 to do that, and that's on the cheap end).

Or there's always the possibility of, "Why is there a hollowed out spot on the bottom of the seat cushion that looks like it's been poorly stitched together?"
Or simply, "What's this fine, white powder in certain spots of the trunk?"
