Yes that would be like making taxi's illegal because I caught a cab to the local brothel or weed spot. |

This news is from April and is the reason they have swung their strategies around to suing active users (see a couple of recent threads). |

Thanks to P2P/Filesharing programs, I have been exposed to more new artists and types of music in a year, then I have been in my entire life almost. While I dont 'own' everything I have downloaded, my list of 'CDs to buy when I get the money' is getting increasingly large. I have no problems supporting artists when I can, espcially unique/talented ones which arnt over-produced bigrecord company landmarks. (Sorry, no matter how many people download britnyspears songs, she still aint starving) |

Before starting using these not so legal means of getting music, I had three legal CDs from Willie Nelson. Then, I knew Napster and I downloaded dozens of CDs from him. Now I have around 30 legal CDs from him and I keep buying all new releases from him. If it wasn't Napster, I would still have those only three legal CDs. Napster is gone and also my willing to download music. Since one year ago up to now, I haven't downloaded too much stuff, despite the fact that here in the US I have a broadband connection. |
