An Infinite CD is a CD which, when inserted in your computer, generates infinitely random music.
See : http://www.infinitecd.org/
As an electronic music fan I'm really interested by this system, however I don't know at all if it is really interesting. Has any of you heard this type of CD and can tell me if it really works ? I mean, is the music harmonic and not chaotic, or do the same rythmns come back every 10 minutes ?
I found something was really interesting too :
quote:
At the present date (April 2001), many tools exist that can help in the creation of an infiniteCD, tough none of them is specifically designed for this task. In addition, all of the existing tools require the mastering either of a programming langage, either of a specific and complex composition tool specialized in generative music, which, for the composer, means the collaboration with a musical assistant and/or a programmer.
The softwares used to create such CDs are mentionned on this website too.
So, hmm, the programmation gods around maybe have an idea on how it is possible achieve this type of things, and which language to use. And perhaps some people would be interested in creating an Ozone infinite cd ?
Thoughts ?
