Well first of all make sure you install via 'add/remove programs.' The most recent norton products 'seem' a lot friendlier than earlier versions that destroyed more than a few of my set ups. |

I had a similar problem with Norton products on my Mac... But I found that Norton did a few things that you can disable in order to make it cooperate. There is an option in some Norton utility, may or may not be AV, I forget... but it basically makes it so that AV will check every file that gets moved to another location, downloaded, whatever... This happens to be a speed draining process, not surprisingly.. Disable whatever option this is to get your performance back... Norton Personal Firewall did this to me too, Most of Nortons programs are pretty interconnected... Check any and all of them for such preferences that make Norton check stuff repetetively. |
