Sent a friend a corel file which outlook express will not allow to be opened.
'OE has blocked access to this file.' We'd like to change that security setting but the closest thing I can find in 'help' is the 'Trust' setting and that doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for (or is it?). Any clues?
thnx

Viol: You can ad 'Mindreader' to your resume. =) I neglected to say what version of OE and it is version 6 so I changed the setting on the neighbours computer.... on Version 5... (what I use) there is no such option. How did you know! <lol>

OE, as this appears to be the client in this issue, is not Outlook (as the subject implies). Anyways, OE 6 has the checkbox checked by default. The first thing to do following installation is to uncheck it.

No pugz...you left out a vital step there...the first step after installing OE is to uninstall it and get something better.

The problem is, after years of using the same program (Outlook Express), I am so used to it that I don't see a reason for changing, even if I know that it has some problems (that I know how to workaround).
This happens not only with OE but with other programs like EditPlus, Nero, MS Office, etc... There may have other programs, options, that are better, or lighter or whatever, that would make sense for someone new to the area to use them instead, but for someone with years of using the same program, changing in itself is a pain. Better to stay stuck to what I know better.
I am a conservative guy.

Thats funny. I was telling myself those same excuses about two months ago when I had to do a total reload of my computer. It was a time that made perfect sense to update my OS and some of the ancient software that I was clinging to... but I didn't want to... arguing that I knew them inside out ect. ect........

Then it hit me.... I must be getting OLD!!!!!!!!!

Theres instant motivation..........

Upgrading a software that we are already used to is not the same as changing it for a similar one. Upgrades are usually cosmetic, if you compare what it had and what it has after the upgrade. Think about Photoshop: although there may have been nice enhancements over the years, if you master Photoshop 4, you'll be a master of the newer version as well or it'll take not too much effort to get used to the new stuff (if you are interested in the new stuff).
I like newer versions better, almost always.
