Anyone know what the difference is between the two, and whether Pro is especially necessary? |

If you're a knowledgeable user, I would recommend Win2000 instead of WinXP. |

xp pro has a lot of extra security features built into it. As I see it thats the main reason for choosing it over home edition. I use the home edition |

i ru win2k now and have kinda the same thoughts moon shadow, the only drawback is that micro$oft is slowly easing up and will eventually discontinue support of 2000 according to things i've read. |

Pro is the win2k kernel with all the xp toys built onto it. Home is the ME kernel with all the xp toys built onto it. |

Go with Pro if you have to use XP. Otherwise, go with 2000. |
