If I stick an audio CD into the CD drive I'd like it to automatically play in WinAmp but the actions (at least in XP Home Edition) only allow me to use WMP and other MS approved options. Is there any fix to this? It strikes me as very naughty as 95% of users will go with the easy option and just use WMP.

I thought this had come up before here but I couldn't find it.

WinAmp is in the list for me, try changing the file associations with Audio CD tracks

Open D: (cd drive), right click on file - properties, click the change button

prawnstar69: Nope it was already associated with WA when I checked. I'll restart later and see if that helps but I haven't changed anything there.

Ahhh right got it (thanks to Lacuna pointing out the error of my ways):

My Computer >> CD/DVD drive >> File > Properties (or right click properties) >> Autoplay tab >> Music CD (from drop down - not music files)

and that should do it. Thanks all

prawnstar69: Yep it all worked out OK - interestingl it seems to associate with WA 3 rather than 2 (although I use 2 more). Now where do I find the plugins in WA3?

Lacuna: Yes I suppose.

prawnstar69: Well I have Do Something and Shoutcast installed on WA2 but I can't seem to find the plugins in the options.

hmm, weird, do they come with installers or do you have to unzip them into the plug-in directory?

I have a WA problem (v3) I put the volume to 100% and when the song is done and it skips to the next song, the volume goes down to about 80%, no matter how many times I change it, it'll go to 80%.
