Topic awaiting preservation: Wow

i just ran into this site after a semester of graphic design with a man who shouldnt b a teacher (opinionated offcourse) and this site is just everything pure and good that i seek after and that in response has given me slight hope to continue my higher learning and seek others like me. I would like to become more invloved and learn more and if anyone can suggest other sites like this one, tutorials, or any tidbits,,, .i dont know im just at awe because one whole semester i learn nothing and than in 5 minutes i learn how to make a glass ball. I mean I think this guy (mr tutorial writer and possibly webmaster?) is the greatest graphics teacher i ever had, and we have not even met. If anyone mainly mr. tutorial/webmaster/goodguy on my list would like to have an in depth talk about our purpose in life and ways of improving our environments (or just be friendly and say hi, or Ur welcome) PLzZzzzz contact me at sfridm1@umbc.edu

i know what you mean Tao. when i first got my cell in the FAQ (which is what you should do right away, samf) i tried to get away - even voted it down - but Mr. Mad Emps made it sticky instead so i couldnt get away. Now, i don't know what i would do if i did escape.

Dive in the FAQ of the Asylum, browse the threads, try to look the site of the inmates you find skilled ...

samf: Welcome to the Asylum! I am Wolfen, the Asylum Security Guard. This place is a good place to learn photoshop, adobe illustrator, website programming, and all around zen feeling. Best things to do is check out our FAQ. I think our unofficial motto when it comes to graphics design is 'Play, Fiddle, Learn'. Playing is the best way to learn any program from Photoshop to Dreamweaver.

If you are planning to be a graphics designer, your best friend is photoshop. Eat, sleep and dream in photoshop, (personally though I like Illustrator 7 and Poser 4). Learn from observation of everything in your world, try to recreate what you love.

Learning from tutorials helps, but it is best to get opinions from experts.. (like here of course!) Develop your own style. I learned what I know through playing. If you are looking for good tutes though, learn from the Hands-On tutorals, or go to our sister site www.gurusnetwork.com . Very good selection there.

Do not be afraid to ask questions on here, we are a diverse bunch and are always willing to help.

Challenge yourself. Go to the PS Pong area and get into that competition. Go to the BIG SIG area and get into our monthly signatures contest. There are contests in the Photoshop area and the Photography area (if that is your pleasure...) Challenge is the best way to improve your skills.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST.... Post your work! We like to see what you can do. Do not be afraid to post your work in the Photoshop area, we like to see what others do.
