Some time ago (maybe 6 months ago, I think??) somebody wrote an article on his website about resurecting Times New Roman as an appropriate font to use on the web. He showed all sorts of CSS 'manipulations' of the normal -- small caps, kerning, increased line height, expanding, contracting, etc. The results were far from your typical newbie-don't-know-better default Times New Roman look.

Problem is, I can't find that article anywhere.

Does anybody remember this?

mobrul: It?s time we take back Times New Roman on the web was written by Dave Shea a.k.a. the creator of the CSS Zen Garden ( among other things ).

Hope that helps,

InSiDeR: TNR sounds like a NO-NO at first thought, but you may have a higher consideration for it after reading that article.

and yet on his site he still uses a sans-serif font.

C:\ I guess you're teasing me, but just in case Dave Shea doesn't tell everyone to use TNR and only TNR. Nonetheless by some simple CSS adjustments he manages to make that oldschool font look clean and stylish.

poi: i wasn't really pointing at *you*

I just thought it was kind of funny that he had the article and boosted up TNR and he uses sans-serif. hehe

Indeed that's not part of the "guidelines for the come back of TNR" best practices

i find that my eyes get strained reading TNR over long periods of time and that I can read far more if it is a sans-serifed font...
