I want to buy some software to manage my personal expenses. I have heard Quicken is good, anyone have other suggestions? I know MS Money 2003 comes with Office Suite but I have Win 98- so I do not have it. Quicken is like $50.

I think MS Money is pretty good. And I saw H&R Block package that comes with money2004. U should look around your city, if they have it - u get a tax deduction software and money for like 15 bucks...

MS Money is great, I'm sure Quicken is as well. For personal finances Money has more features than you'll ever use.

If you like opensource there is a nice program called GnuCash http://www.gnucash.org/

I have heard that it is really good, and that once you use it you won't go back to your old accounting software. You can't beat the price either. I don't believe it has been ported to windows yet, so if you are one of those "windows" people you might have a hard time running it. But is runs on Mac OSX, GNU/Linux, *BSD, and the traditional unix variants.

I have a better idea.

Send all your money to me, and I will manage it for you.

But seriously, DO NOT use MS Money.
With their security record and how much love there is for them
I am surprised that no Virus targetted MS money yet.

Something cute like sending your financial details all over the planet.

I think he's talking about MS's security record, not MSMoney proper. There is no exploit I've ever heard of for Money.

If you run a good firewall and virus protection, something you should be doing regardless (especially if you use an 'always on' broadband connection) you should be fine as you can be.
