Hey, I hav a question.

I know my friend can store pages on the harddisk so a one time visit is enough and then he can look them up off-line. I wanted that too, so I did some things with MIE. But it didnt work out. What did I do wrong?

MSIE does this automatically, but whether page will be cached or not depends on many different things. Some web server send "no-cache" statement in HTTP header and browser won't cache pages from it. Also, the larger size of your temporary internet files folder is, more pages will be cached. Another thing that can happen is that IE will stop caching pages completely, in that case empty your temporary internet files folder. And last but not leas, when you add some page to favorites, you have an option entitled "Make available offline", which should be checked...

You might be talking about the ability to Save pages. If you go to "File>>Save As" and Select "Web Page Complete" as the type you can save the whole page, text and images.

There are also 3rd party apps for offline browsing
