I think i read somwere in the asylum that the eval command is slowing down the script is it true?
god say it isn't

when i use eval i don't have to make one script for IE and one for NN, NN6
so is ther a alternative to eval,

well then i i have another problem, if i have a layer's name stored inn a variable i usaly do this
eval ("document.all."+name+".style.left = 200"), how can i do this without a eval command?


he he, this suks i'm just finishd with my script 250 lines and it's all eval;

Or you could do

document.all[name].style.left = whatever

if you're sure they're using IE.

Ini: It would be interesting to have a page with some of the common problems/poor ways of doing things outlined and the generally agreed upon 'best practice' solution(s) outlined - it wouldn't have to be much more than what you've written above but it would be useful. I know I find such discussions as above very useful and I know its helping me improve my JavaScripting so thanks.
