Preserved Topic: javascript windows?

This is my first post, so go easy on me.

I was wondering if it was possible to create a window in a page using javascript. I dont mean another window with all of it's features (e.g. scrollbar,statusbar, etc...) taken away, I mean a completely javascript generated window that pops up when a button is pushed or when a mouse is put over a section of a map or something like that, similar to what happens at doc's page (ozones.com) only without the loading. Or maybe you have to load. I don't know. Let me know what you think?

A JavaScript window?? Hmm... well there are a few things that come to mind, mostly dHTML stuff. There are scripts for a window that can move around on the screen, windows like Doc's of course, umm...

I'm not sure what you mean with the "only without the loading" part. The page will have to load in the window that is created. You can have a look at http://www.dhtmlcentral.com for a script on the window stuff. Or Doc has that script for his site at http://www.znippets.com.

Thanks CPrompt, I'm sitting ready for the straight jacket. I just hope it's my size, the last one was way to small. I checked out the pages you gave me. That's pretty much what I was looking for. I was hoping it wouldn't have been so difficult to program them. I'm going to have to study the code for a while.

Yeah dHTML can some time get a confusing. If you know something about JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheets you shouldn't have *too* many problems. Check out this tutorial. It explains pretty well what is going on.

After you check out the code and work with it, come back and ask some questions.

man, that is a long code. I still don't get a bunch of it. I've gotten to the point where I can get one window to pop, which is all I want. but Ican't get itto place where I want it. I can't do a table tag and have it centered all the time. any thoughts. My idea is to have this window be the info for every link for a company (e.g. contact, about us, mission, employment.

I have never used the ZScroller of Doc's. (I'm getting ready to). This sound exactly like what Doc has on his Ozones page. I would just look at his code. (I'm sure he won't mind ).

If all else fails either do a search for Zscoller in the search engine or post a new topic with a specific question.
