Topic awaiting preservation: setting nested layer width in opera (Page 1 of 1)

i'm having problems with opera while trying to set the width of a nested layer.
- i (try to) use style.width
- it works with the parent layer (!!!!!)
anyone know why this is happening? bug in opera?
opera supposed to be dom, right? i know it has implemented mainly getElementById() (some dom support ) but that's all what i need at this time. any help is appreciated. thanks.

p.s. i CAN reposition the same nested layer. lol

well, ok. but it's not much.

i get the reference to the layer object by getElementById.

then ref.style.width = new_width;

that's it!

as i said, i have two divs nested. for the inner div it doesn't work. for the other one it does !!@@!!@?

err. i looked at dhtmlcentral.com's main page and the windows there seem to have the same problem. (try to resize them in opera...)

could this be an opera bug and not my incompetency?

Yeah, it's a bug in Opera. When you try to resize nested layer it will resize it *internally*, but it won't update text or whatever you have inside that layer. For example, if you try to define different background color for nested layer, you'll see that it resized the layer (according to the background color), but text will stay outside new dimensions...
