Topic awaiting preservation: Playing music w/graphic EQ??

Was just wondering. I have seen a millon sites that play music with the option to turn it on or off.

My question is this: If I were going to do something like this, is the EMBED method my only choice? I have been looking for some documentation on this and what platforms this would work on.

Obviously I would have to preload the file then just have it loop through.

Now my other question is this: In these sites that play music, I have also seen graphic EQ's. I realize that this is mostly a flash thing but I was wonder if there were any other options?

The EQ isn't that big of a deal but I would like to have my site play music in the background. Just would like to have an EQ as well.

BG music is foul. Use Flash.

Weedah, I don't have Flash and don't really plan on buying it.

I am just doing an "experiment" type page. A good friend of mine is a techno DJ type guy and I would like to use some of his music on a page.

Go to my site, then the INFO section and then click on one of the eyes on the baby(Me 3months old + photoshop) you'll get to a weird weird secret page , it uses sound effects and such using another iframe I think, anywho could be handy for you. I remember ages ago , IE only supported <bgsound> and NS only supported <embed> , now I think IE5+NS6 both use <bgsound> not too sure, but if you want to change music , I think you can rewrite the embedding code to a DIV, but I dont know how compatable that is.

As far as I can remember you use loop=-1 for infinite loop and autostart=true in the tag for <bgsound + maybe <embed

The sound features on that only work in IE4 + NS4 , nothing else.

As for an equalizer, I dont think so, but maybe if you have some kind of plugin or something. I have seen this before, I assumed it was flash.

It had background music which you could turn off .. I simple had a frame(not in the link above) which was one of two pages playing.htm and stopped.htm.
