I did see some of those color swithces on the web, who switched between stylesheets and thus making the page/site look different. But they all seem to have javascript involved, now i like to do one without any javascript so it still works when people have (java)scripts disabled. I already searched the faqs...no usefull answers.
Can this be done? and in what direction should i look? and should this be desirable to do?

By having multiple link tags to different style sheets, the browser should provide the user with an option to switch between them.

IE is the only popular browser that doesn't provide this functionality. Mozilla and Opera both have it.

This ALA article describes the proper link tag syntax for this functionality.

AFAIK, there's no way to make it work in IE without JavaScript.

my solution for now though very rude:
if i can do a browser check without JS i will swap whole html page instead of the stylesheet. I do know it is not meant to work that way, but it's the only thing i could think off this fast. Since this is going to be needed in a low cost thing i don't want to loose to many time with it. The worst thing is it has be be on a cd. So the php might not do the trick but i will look into that tommorow...

<edit>i think i got a solution: in this thread on expert-exchanges they talk about microweb
