Hello all,

I'm having a problem with getting a page to print properly in Netscape 4.x.

Basically, the content of the page is changed by DHTML after the user enters information into a form. That information is formated for printing.

In IE and in Netscape 5 and above, it prints fine, but in Netscape 4.x, it prints the original page unchanged by the DHTML.

Any help would be great.

thanks,
blackjack

Slime,

Well, thats pretty much what I expected. I was hoping against all odds someone would know something I could do.

Usually, I wouldn't worry about forcing Netscape 4.x users to do something different to get the same result, but they make up an unusually large amount of the audience for this particular site.

thanks anyway,

Not that it solves the problem, but you should Really convince this particular audience that their browser is simply too old. NS4.x recently "celebrated" its 5th aniversarry. It supports stuff from html 4 which is again a year older than that, and it violates everything the W3C stands for and what modern browsers stand for.
Every site that is built now that still supports NS4.x prolongs its existance, and holds back developments and techniques that webdevelopers are eager to use; You of all have a task, or rather a moral duty to address your audience to finally give up and start to use a modern browser!

Every day that passes makes supporting NS4.x a bigger crime! :P

Clay,

I completely agree with you. The client is government however, and they seem to update their software en masse at least two years behind most commercial clients. I was very shocked to see most people running Netscape 4.x when I was onsite. Some of these people didn't even know they had IE on their computers. It was like the being back in 1998, minus the generous paycheck I used to get for dealing with Netscape
