Topic awaiting preservation: Upsidedown Flash?!

On a website i was working on, our designer had made a flash for the opening page. Also, the website was using page transitions (which I didnt like, but I digress). Anyways, on slower computers the flash would end up displaying upside down and garbled... not good

So, I took out the page transitions [yay], and on *most* computers, the flash works fine. Site launchs, 6,000 people hit it in the span of a day, and for the odd person (3 or 4 that have reported, who knows how many had it happen and didnt say anything) is getting the flash animation displayed upside down and garbled.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I just put up a nonflash version now at www.thebeerstoreonline.ca .. the flash detection/version is back up on our development box at

This may not be what you want to hear, but IMO the site gains nothing from the flash animation, and all it does is cause the viewr to either wait too long, or get bored and klick on a link and miss the message.

If I were you, I'd lose it altogether.

Everyone in the office agreed that the flash while 'looked purty', wasnt worth the bandwidth or add enough to make it used. But in the end - the client is allways right.

The client also wanted a loon sound on the page [ugh]. But when the site launched and had nearly 6,000 hits in the first day, the first page was around 250k to download and it sucked up too much bandwidth, so we made the 'executive' choice to remove the flash/sound from the page, atleast during the first few days of going live.

Turns out its still the page transitions that are causing the problems. On the page people are linking to the contest from there are tranisitions, *sigh*

any ideas of how to get around this? the client wants the flash to go back up soon.
